OK, I’ll admit it, I’m too lazy to read the manual that came with my flash…

When I am using my Nikon SB600 remotely, and I decide to change the flash output from 0.0 to, say -0.7, is this remotely transmitted from my on-camera flash (Nikon D90) to my remote flash unit?

I have a Nikon D60 with an SB600 speedlight. I was thinking of buying a remote, stand, and umbrella for it to use it off-camera. Is it worth it? Can the SB600 provide enough light or should I shell out the money for an Alien Bees B800? This is just something I do in my spare time, not professional.

So here is my set up: I have a SB 600, SB 800, and an old Vivitar 2800 Flash with a remote flash trigger (it will go off whenever another flash fires). I am trying to trigger the 600 and 800 remotely by using my on camera flash. I can get the 800 to fire fine (SU-4 mode) but the 600 is giving me a lot of hassle. I set the 600 to wireless flash mode, but it fires a second or so late and will only fire if the 800 is set as the master. Is there any way to fire the 600 without having the 800 set as the master. I want to set the Vivitar as a background light, the 800 as a 3/4 front light and the 600 as a side or hair light. Do I need to add more equipment or is it possible with what I have? Thank You.
