i have a nikon d40 with kit lens, no remote or other flashes besides the one in the camera, i have a tripod though.

so how do i go about taking photos with a nikon d40 and kit lens [18-55mm]

I don’t know if electronic switch it the right word….but is there one of those remote/clicker things for the Nikon Cool pix L100. i would like to be ableto take pictures of my self and other things by just pressing the button. Does anyone know what this accessory would be called, and if there is one for my camera (Nikon Coolpix L100)? Links would be GREAT!

if you point a remote control at my camera, you can see the infrared lights on it. so if the camera can see this, why can’t it take infrared pictures normally, like night vision so to speak. i know you can do things like that by modifying your camera and things like that, but why can’t it take infrared pictures normally?
i mean taking pictures of heat signatures without modifying the camera.
